New Delhi: Microsoft Corp said on Tuesday it would buy “Call of Duty” Videogame Maker Activision Storm with cash for $ 68.7 billion, the biggest agreement in this sector made the Xbox maker of the third largest gaming company with income.
Microsoft’s offer of $ 95 per share is at a premium of 45% to close Friday Activision.
Activision shares rose almost 38% at $ 65.39 before being stopped for the news.
“Gaming is the most dynamic and interesting category in entertainment on all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of the Metaverse platform,” said Chief Executive Officer Microsoft (CEO) Satya Nadella in a statement.
Demand for video games has surged during a pandemic, as a congestion-in-house consumer plays more games to stay comforted.
Activision game libraries such as “Call of Duty” and “Overwatch” also provide a Microsoft Xbox game platform above the Sony Playstation, which for years enjoys a more stable exclusive game flow.

Last week, rivals Videogame Publisher Take-two interactive software said they would buy the “Farmville” Creator Zynga in the $ 11 billion cash transaction, marking one of the acquisitions in all the largest all-time industries.
