Microsoft has confirmed working on a redesigned paint application for Windows 11.
The new update will borrow aesthetic design from the entire Windows 11 user interface to make it look in line with the entire operating system and other applications.
Also, this will be the first major update for paint applications at age.
Confirmation arrives as a tweet from the head of Windows and Microsoft devices, panos panay.
He has dropped a teaser video from a new paint application that gives a glimpse of the changes that will come on the application.
According to video teasers, the new paint application will bring improvements to font voters, brushes and will also include dark mode.
The redesigned interface now looks fresh and more can be used compared to longer versions.
This video also shows a new fast voter who now shows a different brush and effect.
Floating font toolbar with text formatting options, alignment and other, similar to Microsoft Word, much better than static.
Tweet also confirm that the updated paint application will first arrive for Windows Insider users on the Dev and Beta channels before arriving at the launch later this year.
Microsoft seems to have brought so many new features to the application of paint making it a much better drawing application than before.
However, features such as layers and several new tools such as enhanced selection tools will make painting a much better application for Windows users 11.
There seems to be no option for the layer, but this is the first major update to paint because it gets a ribbon interface.
Microsoft has planned to remove paint from Windows 10 at one point, before reversing the course and keeping it as part of Windows.
Instead, Microsoft has begun removing 3D paint from the installation of Windows 10, a program designed to modernize and even replace traditional paint applications.
It is not clear when Windows Insiders will be able to test this new paint design, but Panay said it would be available to test “immediately.”
