Lucknow: With the Yogi Aditentalath government restarted Mission Rozgar to produce work, as many as 12 Lakh candidates competed for 15,198 teacher posts in high school students assisted by the government.
The post lay empty for the past five years.
According to the number shared by the UpsSSB Secondary Education Service Selection Agency (UPSESSB), which is responsible for the election of teachers in schools assisted, more than 7.1 Lakh candidates have implemented 12,603 empty posts from trained graduate teachers (TGT), while there are 4.3 Lakh applicants for 2,595 posts empty postgraduate teacher (PGT).
There are 4,512 secondary schools assisted in the state.
The high number of applicants means there are 78 competitors for each post.
As for TGT (eligible to teach up to grade 10), there are 56 applicants at each empty post, the number for PGT (qualified to teach up to class 12) is 182 at one post.
Deputy Secretary of UpSESSB and exam Controller, Nawal Kishore, told TI that the number of high applicants was due to recruitment after five years.
The application crosses 11.8 lakh mark after the council expands the online registration date until May, because of the Pandemic Covid-19.
“In preparation for the TGT feasibility test in the August 7-8 and PGT feasibility test on August 17-18 entering the last leg, applicants will be able to download the receipt card at the end of July,” Kishore said.
“The test will be carried out in two shifts.
We are completing the central list.
Candidates must wear facemask and bring cleaners with them,” he added.
The application for teacher recruitment in the schools assisted was invited in 2016 and the written test was carried out last year.
The results of the 2016 applicants were announced only this year.
More than 1k posts empty school heads since a decade of posts more than 1,000 principals in schools assisted lying empty since a decade.
The application was invited in 2013 but there were no interviews held and the encouragement of recruitment was called.
Since then, no fresh advertisements have been published.
“The government must immediately fill the empty post for the functioning of the school,” said a retired principal.
