Istanbul: Migrant boat carrying 45 people sank to South Turkey, and Turkish naval ships and airplanes performed search and rescue operations, the Defense Ministry said on Friday.
Ministry officials said those in the boat board were migrants.
The ministry said in a statement that it had received information on Thursday night that the boat sank, 169 km (259 km) southwest of the Turkish cash resort city.
Two naval frigates are sent to find areas and work with naval planes despite bad weather and sea and weather conditions.
