LOS ANGELES: Producer Mike Richards resigned as the host “Jeopardy!” After a report on past misogynist comments this week.
Richards was chosen last week as the successor to Alex Trebek, but the choice was seen divided from the start after the show began a broad search that included actors, sports leaders, journalists, and celebrities.
Earlier this week, a report on the Ringer website revealed condescending comments about women made by Richards on podcasts.
Clips are deleted online after report posted.
“For the past few days it has become clear that moving forward because the host will be too little interference for our fans and not the right step for the show,” Richards said in the notes “Jeopardy!” Staff on Friday.
“Therefore, I will soon become an effective host.
As a result, we will cancel production today.” Richards said looking for a new host would begin again.
The event will continue production with the guest host who will be announced later, said Richards.
His notes show that he will remain a manufacturer of performances.
“I want to apologize to all of you for unwanted negative attention that comes to Jeopardy! For the past few weeks and for this confusion and delay now causes.
I know I have a lot of work to do to get back trust and confidence .
