Kolkata: The city remained cloudy and received many rain spells on Tuesday even as low pressure, which had triggered a shower in South Bengal since Monday, moved to Bihar.
However, strong southeastern winds continued to explode into a gangetic bengal, carry moisture and clouds from the sea.
Kolkata received 6 mm rain until 5:30 a.m.
on Tuesday.
Under its impact, Kolkata and neighboring districts can receive light to Wednesday, said the regional meteorological center (RMC).
Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for North Bengal until Wednesday.
While some places of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Alipurduar received heavy rain on Tuesday, part of Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri could be tied by heavy rain on Wednesday, according to Bulletin IMD.
Rain can continue in Darjeeling and Kalimpong on Wednesday.
The city witnessed three more houses collapsing around the northern region and the harbor between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
In Kolkata, the rain remains limited to repeated drizzle spells and rarely gets hard.
“With low pressure away from the bengal gangetic, the intensity of the rain is low.
But the southeast wind continues to pick up the clouds that make the shower continue.
We hope the rain to stop by on Wednesday, even though the storm is still in several South Bengal districts,” said an RMC official.
Some places in all coastal districts in 24 parganas and East Midnapore received heavy rain throughout Tuesday.
Bakkhali, Saagar Island, Digha and Shankarpur are wet by continuous rain.
Despite the rain since Monday afternoon, there were no big water holes reported in Kolkata.
According to the Kewerage KMC and the drainage department, the intensity has never passed 10 mm per hour.
Which saves the city of inundation.
“Going with rainfall patterns recorded by our main drainage pumping station, the intensity is far less rare than the rainy rain which has caused waterlogging in large areas,” an official said.
The accumulation of rainfall recorded by KMC shows areas such as Belgaachhia, Belowaghata, Ultangga, Kidderpore, Ballygunge, Behala received rain of more than 40 mm in 24 hours.
However, because the intensity is lacking, even the territory beats unlike the Muktarambabu road, Jalan Amherst, Jalan Camac, Behala and the area from bypass can escape from the flood.
Three collapsed houses in 24 hours of the city watched three houses collapsed in northern and harbor between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Even though a car was partially damaged, no one was injured in this incident.
The police said the main incident was reported from Burtolla when a three-story dilapidated building located in Hemendra Sen (in the picture above) fainted at around 10:30 a.m.
on Tuesday morning.
No one stayed at home.
The house collapsed and fell on a garage side by side of a multi-storey building.
The second incident was reportedly thirty minutes later from Ward 25 in Girish Park when the first floor balcony from the three-story building in Gour Mohan Mukherjee Street collapsed.
The third incident occurred on Monday night in the Kabitirta area of Kidderpore.
