CHANDIGARH: Famous athlete Milkha Singh, who’d tested positive for Covid-19, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Fortis Hospital at Mohali on Monday following his oxygen level began dipping from Sunday night. The 90-year-old had tested positive for Covid on Wednesday and since then had dwelling quarantined himself in his Sector-8 home in Chandigarh. “By Sunday night that he had been suffering from diarrhoea along with his Oxygen levels fell. It may be the negative effects of medications he has been prescribed after testing positive for Covid. He’s now being treated with the mind of Fortis Mohali, along with the doctors are saying he is responding well. He’s secure now,” Singh’s spouse and former India volleyball captain Nirmal Kaur told TOI. “Sardar ji was feeble as he’d ceased consuming anything because Sunday afternoon, so we thought of hospitalising him. We want the country’s prayers for his speedy recovery, he’s a strong guy,” Kaur added. “That is actually the very first time that I have seen him helpless. However, he’s emotionally strong and gets got the power to dip back,” she said. Milkha’s son and celebrated golfer Jeev Milkha Singh explained that the choice to change into the hospital proved to be a preventative measure. “He’s a powerful guy, always confident and will recover shortly.”
