CHANDIGARH: Famous Indian sprinter Milkha Singh continues to be”secure and advancing” under the continuous supervision of a health team in the PGIMER here following regained in COVID-19, he contracted previous month.
“He’s improving and stable.
He’s always being tracked by a health group,” PGIMER officials told PTI on Thursday.
The 91-year-old was Wednesday changed from COVID ICU to a different section of this PGIMER hospital, an announcement from his loved ones said explaining his condition as”stable”.
Another announcement issued from the household on Thursday stated,”Milkha ji proceeds to combat and we remain optimistic”.
Milkha’s spouse Nirmal Kaur (85), that had contracted the virus after her husband tested positive, passed out in a private hospital at Mohali on Sunday because of COVID-related complications.
Kaur has been a former federal women’s volleyball team captain.
Milkha was declared to PGIMER about June 3 following his oxygen prices dipped in home after treatment in the Fortis hospital at Mohali for weekly.
The mythical athlete is an four-time Asian Games gold medallist and 1958 Commonwealth Games winner but his best functionality stays the fourth-place end in the 400m closing of the 1960 Rome Olympics.
In addition, he represented India at the 1956 and 1964 Olympics and has been inoculated the Padma Shri in 1959.
