New Delhi: The Ministry of Health examines the recommendations of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (Ntagi) that vaccination is safe for pregnant women and will immediately make a decision after consultation.
LAV Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health, said that Ntagi recommended that safe vaccination for pregnant women and this problem was examined by the Ministry.
“After taking this problem with relevant stakeholders, and learning it, the order will be issued soon,” he said.
Meanwhile, an official said the ministry had prepared a fact sheet to guide the frontline workers on pregnant women counseling about the value and precautions of vaccines so that they could make a decision.
The document has not been officially released as an awaited decision.
The fact sheet says, “the available vaccine is safe and vaccination protects pregnant women against Covid like everyone else.” Niti Aayog member (Health) VK Paul explained that nursing mothers should not hesitate from the vaccine.
He also said breastfeeding women could feed the baby before and after taking vaccines without worrying.
