Tehran: TV State Iran said 16 people were killed and 12 injured in the west of the country when a mini bus fell from the road to the valley.
The report said the accident occurred in Kurdish province in the Cordestan region on Thursday around noon.
According to the report, 12 injured people were taken to hospital in Sanandaj City.
The country’s emergency organization mobilized rescue helicopters and ambulance buses, and six ambulances to the scene.
The authorities did not report the cause of the accident, saying only that it was being investigated.
With around 17,000 deaths every year, Iran has one of the worst traffic safety records in the world, blamed for neglect of traffic law, unsafe vehicles, and inadequate emergency services.
