Ahmedabad: Taking trips with a pedicab will be an expensive business now – 28% more expensive for the right.
The Regional Transportation Office (RTO) Ahmedabad on Tuesday revised the automatic rickaw tariff, heeded the old request of the rickshaw driver.
According to the latest price revisions, the minimum tariff for traveling distance of up to 1.25km has been raised from Rs 15 to RS 18.
Many times, the per kilometer rate has been revised from Rs 10 per kilometer to Rs 13 per kilometer.
Going with this, if you are traveling with a rickshaw to cover a distance of 10 km, you will now pay Rs 132 instead of Rs 103.
The decision to revise the rickshaw tariff is automatically taken after a meeting between representatives of the driver of the driver Auto Rickshaw (JADU) and RTO AHmedabad authority.
Automatic rickshaw rates have been revised after a four-year gap, Jadu member claims.
Rajvey Upadhyay, President, Jadu, said, “It is good that the government has agreed to a revision in the tariff because it will certainly give a break on the driver of a automatic rickshaw, when the CNG price has surged dramatically.” Jadu members demand that the minimum rate be increased to RS 20 and per kilometer tariff is set at Rs 15.
