Thiruvananthapuram: justify the decision of the University of Kerala to appoint non-Malayalam graduates as editor of Leksikon Malayalam, Higher Education Minister R Bindu said Poornima Mohanan was picked since he was a multi-linguistic expert whose deep knowledge in several others in Sanskrit Language would be very helpful for lexicon work.
However, the minister said he was only aware of the explanation given by the University’s authority to him.
“I did not know the violation of the university law.
If there are such cases, I will look into it,” said Minister on Thursday while answering questions about allegations that the new Lexicon Editor was appointed to contrary to the rules of the university.
A Sanskrit teacher with Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Poornima is the wife of R Mohanan, former IRS officer currently working as an officer about a special task at the ministerial office office.
The minister said the appointment of Poornima must be seen only as a throne arrangement because the university took steps to designate a full-time editor with all the qualifications prescribed.
The university authority has claimed that the decision to use multi-language undergraduate services is taken on the basis of the recommendation of the selection committee.
