Two senior BJP leaders during Pre-Virbant Gujarat Global Summit – Weaving growth for textiles – in a letter on Wednesday said that they had made representation to the central government to keep GST at 5%.
Paatil claimed that the Chairman of the Minister of Bhupendra Patel would write a letter to the central government while Jardosh assured positive results.
Bandh calls have been given by various merchant associations in letters for Thursday with respect to this problem.
About 70,000 traders from 175 textile markets tend to join the strike.
Meanwhile, a group of traders holding the symbolic Havan in the Saroli area to protest the increase in GST.
The tax slab came into force starting January 1, 2022.
“Some people tried to protest and plan the movement of the increase in GST.
They must aim for some political benefits.
But me and Darshana Jardosh along with players from all countries have made representations to the government,” said Paatil .
“We are clearly demanding that the tariff must be 5% if not, consumption will drop and impact on production, which leads to labor issues.
This will damage the industry.
The Minister of Finance hears us and I appeal to CM to increase the problem too,” he added.
“CM told me that he would write a letter to the central government to maintain 5%,” he said.
At the address, Jardosh said, “There was a concern about the increase in GST on the textile.
The decision was taken by the GST Council which had the Minister of Finance and Secretary of all countries.” “We have made representation in the past and the best part of this government is they discuss And make a decision after discussion with stakeholders, “Jardosh said.
Then on that day, when talking to the media, said Jardosh, “we have discussed this issue with the government and asks to solve it.
We hope for some positive results.”
