Chennai: Minister of Religious Father and Hindu Amal (HR & CE) P K Sekar Babu on Friday has Annadhanam (offering food) at the Temple of Sthalasayana Perumal in Mamallapuram with members of the Narikuravar community.
The minister had food with them for days after Ashwini from Pooncheri Village expressed his sadness about members of his community who were not permitted to have Annadhanam at the temple.
The minister distributes Dhotis and Saris for free to them.
The minister said the woman, in a video, aired her view and was unhappy after being rejected by food under the annadhanam scheme at the temple.
This video is widely circulated on social media.
This problem was taken to the notification of Minister M K Stalin.
To eliminate the gap under the scheme, the Minister decided to have food with Narikuravars, said an official.
Officials have been told to treat everyone evenly and avoid slandering a good scheme and the government, adding the official.
Narikuravar is a traditional community whose members are originally hunter.
They now live by selling beads and ornaments.
Previously, Babu said the exercise took the stock of the temple jewelry would take about a year for completion.
After the Madras High Court order that HR & CE should not melt jewelry before appointing the temple guardian, but can continue with the steps to take the jewelry inventory available on all HR & CE temples,
