Ludhiana: Punjab Food, Civil Equipment and Minister of Consumer Affairs Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Thursday inaugurated the beginning of work for the phase 3 of the Sidhwan Waterfront project.
He told that about 1 km long stretching along the Sidhwan canal, starting from Dugri Road to Dhuri Railway Line, will be developed for the benefit of the population in the next few months.
He was also accompanied by the Mayor of Balkar Singh Sandhu, the leader of the Senior Congress of Kamaljit Singh Karwal, in addition to several others.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that under the third phase of this project, a seafront will be developed from the Dugri road to the Dhuri line.
He said that the stretch of about 1 km was located useless today, and when a seafront was developed at a cost around RS 3.5 Crore, a large number of residents of the region would benefit because they would be used to walk in the morning / night along with other recreational activities.
He said that the first phase of the Waterfront Canal Sidhwan project (about 1 km from Jalan Ferozepur to Ferozepur Railway Line) at a cost around Rs 4.74 Crore had been completed and a large number of residents visited their area and family.
He told that this project included a green belt, special cycling tracks, play zones, special trails along the canal, sitting area, wall climbing activities etc.
In the second phase, the Sidhwan canal (from Jalan Pakhowal to Jalan Dugri) was being developed at 1.6 km long phase second (from the Jawaddi Bridge to Jalan Dugri) at a cost of Rs 5.06 Crore.
He further informs that the green belt, plus a special cycle line on both sides, double roads along the canal, etc.
are being developed here.
On that occasion, he also said that special efforts were carried out to ensure that the crossing of Du Dugri (near the Dugri Bridge) did not face traffic congestion.
