Coimbatore: The Ministry of Health plans to track 36,000 adolescents in the age group 15-18, who do not attend school or college, with the help of non-governmental organizations to vaccinate them against Covid.
These teenagers are dropping out of school and many of them have started working, said an official.
“Of the 1.61 lakh people in the category of age 15-18 in Coimbatore, 1.25 lakh attended educational institutions.
While 1.13 lakh of them was vaccinated, we struggled to find 36,000 people,” he said.
Some of the 36,000 children, who are far from educational institutions, can advance and vaccinate, said Deputy Director of Health Services P Aruna p.
“We don’t have the right data about how many of them receive vaccines.
It’s clear that the majority of them haven’t got a vaccine.
We plan to work with NGOs to make it vaccinated,” he said.
Meanwhile, booster dose camps conducted by the district government in primary health centers, urban primary health centers and government hospitals receive a good response.
Many have completed nine months after two vaccination doses received themselves vaccinated.
