Leh: Ministry of Tourism Union has held a three-day program to promote Ladakh as a tourist destination.
The event, which focuses on the possibility of tourism adventure, culture and sustainability, is the first of its type held in the Union region since it was notified in 2019.
As part of the event, the government facilitated business-to-business network events on Wednesday, which Skarma Tsering Dehlex, President of All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association told Tii, the first time such an event was held in Leh.
“Nearly 60% of Ladakh populations depend on tourism.
Previously, Ladakhis had to travel out to attend the network events.
This is the first time such a program has been held here and we believe it is a good start,” Dehlex said.
He also said Ladakh has been able to send a larger delegation that represents Ladkah tourism products in Padang Tourism throughout the country because the area is declared independent of J & K.
While business-to-business involvement begins on Wednesday, three-day programs, ‘ Ladakh: New start, a new goal ‘, will be officially launched on August 26 by Ladakh LG RK Mathur and Tourism Union, Culture and Minister Doner G Kissan Reddy.
Reddy is also expected to specify the ministry’s plan on tourism and film policies for Ladakh, on a line made for J & K.
Ministry is also scheduled to launch documents “vision tourism for Ladakh”, focusing on the overall development of the Ladakh region.
The document imagines promoting tourism in the background of sustainable ecological practices, building local materials and human resources.
