More than one and a half years into a pandemic, India has emerged as the largest source of information covid, with one of six false information out of the country, a new study has found, reporting Chandrima Banerjee.
Studies at the ‘International Federation of Library and Institution Associations’ Sage, by a researcher from the University of Alberta in Canada, surpassing 9,657 wrong information sheets in 138 countries.
It covers a period between January 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021.
“The data used is collected from the IFCN website (network inspection of international fact pointer), which currently has the most comprehensive information data collected from all over the world,” Author of MD Sayeed Al- Age told Toi.
This study found social media is a wrong information manufacturer, counted 85% of it.
Internet-based sources are 91% of all Covid fake news.
Among countries, India is the largest source (18%), followed by Brazil (9%) and the US (8.6%).
The number of information errors is also the highest in India at 16%.
“I suspect that the infrastructure of information and communication is weak, less information literacy (digital) and information awareness among people can be the main reason for higher information in India in India,” Al-times said.
“Information that misleads a surge when the crisis first appears and reliable data is not available,” he said.
