Udhagamandalam: perceptible to a kilometre, the Missionary Hill Road at Ooty has ever been ignored by civil officers. The recurring difficulty faced by the inhabitants of this region is regular overflowing of water and storm water around the 12-feet street during rain. “At the past two months, sewer water overflowed from manholes many times. When we whine, municipal employees clear cubes,” said a resident. “There has to be a permanent remedy to the problem. Lots of the parts of the sewer pipe are all broken beneath the street. Walking around the sewage-run street is really a sad experience.” In addition, part of the street is on the point of caving in, posing a danger to 20 homes in the region. “When heavy car pass, the street could cave in together with the negative revetment. Even with ailments, civil officers turned a blind eye on the critical dilemma,” explained Sathesh Premnath, yet another resident. The slim, curvy street can be utilized as a parking space, interrupting traffic stream. Authorities do not govern parking on the street. “The sewer point in Missionary Hill has to be relayed. We’re expecting finance from the authorities,” Ooty civil engineer Rajendran told TOI.
