Mizoram braces for more refugees as clashes increased at the Myanmar border

Aizawl: More The entry of refugees from the southern part of Myanmar from the State of Chin who has been reported from Siha Mizoram Regency is southern for the past few days while more expected to follow after clashes broke out between local civilian militias and Myanmar soldiers in the southern state.

The villagers along the Myanmar border region, especially men, Mawhre, Chapat Chakhei, Lobo, Zyhno, Vahia, Phura and No-Oahtla have faced difficulties when caring for displaced people.
While the Community Balai has been prepared for refugees, assistance camps have also been built in many villages to accommodate refugees.
Mara Chano Py (MCHP), Apex Mara women’s organization, also collects blankets, clothing, equipment and other needs of refugees, including money.
Source said the exodus is currently triggered by a buildup of military in the district of Matupi in the South Koran state and an attack on the blood force by Chin Defense Force (CDF), a local civilian militia.
A six-year-old girl was killed by a broken bullet on Saturday after troops based in Matupi Matupi Chin State began firing artillery shells near her family’s farm, Myanmar now, reported online publications.
According to information officers for Chinland Defense Force (CDF), the girl and family members in the hut on their farm when hit by the artillery shell.
Other civilians were reported killed at the same time near the village of Kainn, also located on the road between Matupi and Missat.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, died instantly after stepping on land mines, according to CDF officers.
It is not clear which side has placed land mines.
While some refugees dripped into the Champhai District of Northeastern Mizoram and Hnahthial District in the southern part of the country, more refugees were expected to follow the clashes in Hakha, Facac and Chin State Regency.
Two refugees entered Vaphai Village in Champhai District on Tuesday, while there were no reports of new entry in Hnahtial District since Monday.
