Aizawl: The situation of Covid-19 in Mizoram continues to be grim as a country, has a population of nearly 12 lakh, records 1,322 new positive cases for the past 24 hours.
The country recorded the highest number of new cases in the country, then only for Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, according to data issued by the Ministry of Health and family welfare on Saturdays.
Mizoram registered the highest number of Covid cases among the eight northeastern states for 33rd days in a row, while contributing 57.45% of the total number of cases in the region on Saturday.
The state also recorded 63.20% of the total active cases in the northeast.
On the other hand, Mizoram enrolled the lowest recovery rate in this country at 81.46%, followed by Nagaland at 93.22%, while the national average reached 97.78% on Saturday.
It also has the highest daily test level at 15.46% as against the national figure of 1.86%.
While the country has recorded the fatality of 287 Covid-19, an official of the State Health Department said at least 87.37% of them had comorbidities, including terminal diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, kidney and heart problems.
However, many of them do not have terminal diseases.
Some suffer from unknown illness, the official added.
The majority of those who died aged over 60, while some were even above the age of 90, he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of the Aizawl District Dr.
Lalhriatzualidi Ralte stated that seven areas in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation area as limited, while planning to bring four more areas under the same limitation.
At least 17 regions have been identified as a red zone, with their high probability declared a limited area, Ralte added.
