JAMSHEDPUR: MLA Independent of Jamshedpur (East), Sarkyu Rai, has blamed illegal and unplanned construction on both sides of Subarnarekha, Kharkai River Banks and in the city for flooding in lowland areas.
He urged the Secretary of the Head of State Sukhdev Singh to plan a plan for a permanent solution to the problem.
The former minister said four civil bodies – the Mango area of the Mango Region notice, Jamshedpur Area Committee, Jugsalai Municipality, Area Committee who was told AditTur – had not taken the right action against encroachment, pose a risk in the rainy season.
In a letter to the Head of Secretary, RAI suggested meeting between and intra-departments from all officials concerned to write a permanent solution for the problem.
In his advice, MLA said all flood-prone areas must be identified and encroachment in these fields must be removed.
During his term as Minister in the previous BJP government, Rai also raised the problem and lent his voice for river conservation.
He further said the bridge in Sonari, Kandenbera and Adityapur also played a role in flooding the nearest area.
In particular, some parts of the steel city are often flooded after heavy shower and the problem increases if the gate of the dam door in Odisha and Chandil opened.
