MYSURU: Krishnaraja MLA SA Ramadas has been offering eatables to monkeys on Chamundi Hills for more than a fortnight now.
Hitherto, they had been feeding on bananas and food offered by devotees.
However, for the last few weeks, they are deprived of food following a ban on devotees’ visit to the hill shrine.
Stray animals have been facing the brunt of lockdown.
Besides monkeys, the MLA is also offering food to cows and dogs.
“The monkeys were totally dependent upon the food offered by the devotees.
However, due to the ban on the arrival of the devotees, they were suffering from hunger.
So, I decided to offer them bananas and other eatables,” said the MLA.
“My idea is to ensure that they will not suffer from hunger.
I visit the hill shrine where the monkeys stay in groups,” he added.
