M’luru: Aorta dissection with success

Mangaluru: 63-year-old, who suffer from aortic dissection like former Cricketer New Zealand Chris Cairns, was treated successfully at Fuller’s Hospital here.
People with such conditions, around 10% without treatment, die within one month often because of broken or tear extensions to vessels that supply brains, stomach or kidneys.
Patients operated at FR Muller Hospital suddenly sad back pain and doctors diagnose it as a life-threatening condition, tear in the aorta (the largest blood vessels) that can be caused by high blood pressure or due to weakness in the vessel.
A team consisting of Dr.
Lenon d’Souza, Head of the Endovascular Radiology and Intervention, Dr.
Anand KT, Head of Cardiothoracic Operations and Dr Chetana Anand, Heart Anesthesia conducted the procedure.
After the initial bypass procedure was carried out on the ship that supplied the brain and left hand, the improvement of the Torax Endovascular Aorta (TEVAR) was carried out, where special grafts were placed across tears on the ship to prevent sustainable bleeding and expansion.
Dr.
D’Souza said the procedure such as Tevar for Aorta’s Dissection and Aorta Aneurysm was much more complex and needed teamwork with radiology of intervene and cardiothoracic operations.
