M’luru: Households just want to help domestic help

Mangaluru: Those who want to employ domestic assistance in Mangaluru, especially to care for elderly family members, the more looking for servants who have taken at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Joseph Saldanha (name changed), a resident of Balmatta for example, wants to hire domestic assistance but he said he would only hire someone who had received a vaccine dose.
“This warning will help people we rent and my family.
Both will be safe from Covid-19,” Joseph said.
John Cordeiro, a work consultant that places domestic assistance and nurses at home in Dakshina Kannada and other districts, saying it’s not just Joseph, but almost everyone, especially those who have senior citizens at home, which now only demands servants who are vaccinated.
“Now, if someone comes to me asking for a job, I tell them to take at least the first dose,” Cordeiro said.
“The majority of these assistance comes from Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Bagalkot, and other countries,” he said, adding that he also confirmed domestic assistance provided a negative RT-PCR report when they arrived in the city.
“However, vaccinations are far better because there is greater security and eliminate the element of fear.” Households that already have domestic assistance also make sure they get a vaccine.
Sonia Rodrigues Shetty, a resident of Bejai, said she ensured her aid got a dose.
“Covid-19 can be fatal for some people, especially the elders.
Domestic assistance / servants who care for them must be inoculated, especially if they are directly related to people like that,” Shetty said.
“In this way, both parties are safe.” He said the housekeeping who already had the waiter had to help them vaccinate because the digital gap was very large.
He said most helped not have access to the internet or did not know how to use a smartphone.
Suraj Kamath, an entrepreneur from Uhwa, said he stopped his domestic assistance from coming when the second wave began and had not been considered hiring him back.
“Parents think it’s very risky because some domestic help works in some houses.
We don’t want to take a chance,” Kamath said.
