New Delhi: In the midst of sustainable pressure to check the drop of calls, cellular towers need to pay more to install towers in the East Delhi area because the Civic body has agreed to a proposal to revise the tariff.
Additional rates will be charged to install antennas from several cellular companies in one pole and each application to regulate the cellular tower will also attract additional retribution of Rs 10,000 towards administrative expenses.
The proposal was ratified in a recent home meeting.
In 2016, the High Court requested three civil bodies and cellular towers to decide on the level and in January 2017, a consensus was reached.
Since 2017, the Civic body has collected Rs 11 Crore from the cellular tower in its areas, said Delhi Municipal East Major Shyam Sunder Agarwal.
“After four years of applying rates, decisions were taken to increase it again.
And in March 2021, it was agreed to increase the cost of installing from RS 2 Lakh for five years to RS 5 Lakh for five years per tower.
It was also decided that antenna from more than one company in The cell tower will increase the level of installation by 25%, “Agarwal said.
However, as soon as the proposal floated, the cellular tower company submitted a request at the Delhi High Court on the increase imposed by the three civil bodies.
“The High Court then asked all interested parties to sit together and found a solution.
Then, the meeting was summoned in June and July where decisions were taken to revise tariffs.
The diffinal revised tariff included imposing the costs of Rs 3 Lakh for five years and no fees Additionally from the cellular tower operator to install several other company antennas in one tower, “said the proposal approved at home meeting on Friday.
“For a pole to a height of 12 meters, the cost of Rs 25,000 for five years will be charged, (the exchange rate is Rs 20,000), and to install the antenna of many companies, Rs 25,000 per antenna will be charged.
Towers Mobile has been operating will continue to operate on Old levels, however, during their contract renewal, new prices will be charged automatically, “said the proposal.
“Rates have been carried out in the South Corporation.
Although the decision will reduce the revenue expected by us at first, but now the consensus has been contacted for the revised level, in the end it will help in strengthening cellular networks in the area,” Agarwal said.
