New Delhi: Ahead of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India next month, the Defense Ministry on Tuesday cleared the obstacles in the old RS 5,000 Crore project delayed to build the Kalashnikov AK-203 rifle in India, while also giving an initial nod to the RS 2,236 crore project for launched a GSAT-7C satellite for IAF.
The source said the Defense Acquisition Board (DAC), chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, agreed to the changes needed in a joint venture with Russia to produce more than six Rifles of the Lakh AK-203 for a 10-year period at the Korwa Arms factory in Ametha Regency Uttar Pradesh.
The DAC has provided “Acceptance of Needs” (AON) for the AK-203 rifle project with an estimated price of RS 4,358 Crore back in January 2019.
But it has been stuck since it was over the transfer of technology, royalties and others.
Problems, as reported by TII before.
There was no official word on the rifle project on Tuesday, but MOD said the DAC had approved AON against the IAF proposal for the Satellite Hub and Ground GSAT-7C for real-time connectivity from the radio specified by the software.
“This project imagines a complete design, development, and satellite launch in India.
His induction will increase the ability of the armed forces to communicate outside the` vision line ‘among themselves in all circumstances in safe mode, “said an official.
GSAT-7C, which will be launched in two to three more years, will be the second special satellite for the IAF.
The power already has a GSAT-7A, which is built by ISRO especially for communication.
GSAT-7C, in turn, will be more intended for “safe operational data links” between planes and drones, which can fly deep into the enemy area or above the Indian Ocean, as well as land stations.
