Modernization of Police: The center has Rs 50 CR to Punjab in 3 years

Chandigarh: The central government channeled Rs 50 Crore to the Punjab government for police modernization in the last three years, Rs 35 Crore to the Government Haryana and Rs 10 Crore to the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
The information was revealed by the Minister of State of Nityanand Rai, in return on a question during the ongoing MONSOON parliamentary session on Tuesday.
He added even though the police and public order were the subjects of the state based on the seventh constitutional schedule, the central government completed the efforts of the state government by equipping and modernizing police forces with centrally sponsored schemes – assistance to the police modernization.

Also, in this scheme, the purchase of operational vehicles is permitted in the North-Eastern countries affected by the uprises and districts affected by extremism, Rai said.
