‘Modi became the first Indian PM to lead the UNC’ meeting

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the first Indian PM to lead the meeting during the New Delhi President of the UN Security Council (UNSC), said Syed Akbaruddin, a former Indian envoy to the United Nations, on Sunday.
Speaking to India, former Indian permanent representative to the United Nations, Akkbarudin said that in more than 75 years, this is the first time Indian political leadership has invested in leading the event of 15 UN members of the body and this illustrates that the country’s leadership wants it to lead from the front.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra will be the first Indian Prime Minister, who has decided to lead the UN Security Council meeting.
This shows that leadership wants to lead from the front.
It also shows that India and political leadership are invested in our foreign policy business,” Syed Akbaruddin, who is currently the Dean of the Kautilya Public Policy School.
India on Sunday assumes a revolving presidency from UNSC and will host a signature event related to maritime security, peacekeepers, and counterterrorism for a month.
Prime Minister Modi, Minister of External Affairs, Jaishankar and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Harsh Shringla will also lead a high-level meeting on important topics globally.
“This is our eighth duty at UNSC not yet in 75+ years, this is the first time our political leadership has invested in leading the security council event,” Akbaruddin said.
“Even though this is a virtual meeting, it’s still the first meeting for us.
It’s historical.
The last time an Indian PM was involved in this effort was PM Narasimha Rao in 1992 when he attended the UNSC meeting,” he added.
India took over the presidency from France.
The Indian Ambassador to the United Nations, TS Tirumues thanks France’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, to direct the UN Security Council for July.
“India has just assumed the president of the UN Security Council on August 1.
India and France enjoyed historical and close relations.
I thank France for all the support they gave us during our duty on the Security Council,” said Tirumuri in video messages.
During our presidency, India said it was organizing three high-level signature meetings focused on our priority area – maritime security, peacekeepers, and counter-terrorism.
India will also organize the memory of the peacekeeping memory.
Tiruahu knows that the UN Security Council will also have an agenda of several important meetings including Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, and the Middle East.
The Security Council will also adopt important resolution in Somalia, Mali, and PBB Force Interim in Lebanon, he added.
This is India’s first presidency in UNSC for 2021-22 his term as a non-permanent member of the Unsc.
Mastery of the two-year India as a non-permanent member of the UNSC began on January 1, 2021.
The first working day of the Indian Presidency will be on Monday, August 2 when Tirumuti will hold a hybrid press direction at the United Nations Headquarters in the Board Work Program for that month.
