New Delhi: In line with the encouragement of the Government of Narendra Modi to promote ‘Make In India’, the Ministry of Defense on Friday decided to withdraw the tender for offers related to buying missile-to-air short distances and 14 helicopters.
The meeting, however, allowed the troops to continue the agreement to buy air missiles to land from France and Russian helicopter reshuffles, government sources told Ani.
Defense Ninence has begun to review import transactions under the global purchase category which is completely obtained from foreign vendors.
A number of agreements have been included in the closing list and delay by the Ministry of Defense and with the Ministry discussing whether they can be closed for vendors or Indian developers.
A list of seizures and delays includes offers such as a very short air defense system, drawn artillery weapons, surface-to-air missiles that are launched vertically, unmanned unmanned air systems, additional P-8i supervisors along with MIG-29 fighter planes .
Offers under foreign military sales routes such as general purpose machines also in the list and missile agreements will also be examined.
The Multi-Billion Kamov-226 helicopter deal with Russia has also been included in the list.
Choppers Kamov-31 Shippede along with Club Anti-ship missiles is also on the list.
A number of project lines are also in the list to be taken for discussion.
This initiative occurred after the Prime Minister Modi took a review of the meeting with the Ministry of Defense officials, including the Head of the General Bipin Defense Staff, where felt that strong steps must be taken to ensure that the country moved strongly towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the defense sector.
Prime Minister has personally reviewed the progress of Make in India initiatives in the defense sector and from time to time asking officials both in services and the Ministry of Defense to ensure that more steps were taken to promote Make in the India.
