NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday talked to some Mauritius counterpart Pravind Jugnauth to communicate condolences at the passing of his dad and veteran chief Anerood Jugnauth.
“I predicted @MauritiusPM Pravind Jugnauth to communicate heartfelt condolences on the sad passing of Sir Anerood Jugnauth.
He is going to be remembered as one of the undisputed leaders of the Indian Ocean Region and also a primary architect of India’s unique friendship by Mauritius,” Modi tweeted.
Anerood Jugnauth, a former Mauritius prime minister, passed away on Thursday.
At a tweet on such afternoon, Modi had clarified Anerood Jugnauth, that had been awarded India’s second highest civilian honor Padma Vibhushan, as a statesman who had been the architect of modern Mauritius.
“A joyful Pravasi Bharatiya, he helped invent the unique spiritual relationship which could benefit from his heritage,” he’d said.
