New Delhi: PM Modi kicked his engagement in Italy on Friday with a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel and the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, on the sidelines of the 16 G20 summit in Rome.
Indian and EU leaders reviewed India-EU cooperation which included political and security, trade and investment and economic cooperation and the Roadmap 2025 agreed on the last Summit, the government stated.
They also discussed climate change, Covid-19 pandemics and contemporary global and regional developments for both parties.
According to Indian authorities, the EU leaders also congratulated India because of its excellent progress in vaccination.
This was the first official involvement of Modi after he arrived in Italy to participate in the G20 Summit in which he would join other leaders in the discussion of the global economic and health recovery of Covid-19, sustainable development and climate change.

The leaders discuss ways to improve economic relations and people-to-people aimed at creating a better planet,” PMO tweeted.
The President of the European Commission Leyen said it was “good to meet” PM Modi.

We agreed that our trade negotiators will begin to work.
We will deepen our cooperation about the climate, including in innovation & technology.

Michel said in a tweet, both parties discussed global health and “against Pandemi, strong Euindia strategic partnerships, situations in Afghanistan and Indo-Pacific”.
The 15th India-EU Summit, which was held in virtual mode in July 2020, was attended by PM Modi, Charles Michel and Ursula Von Der Leyen.
