Lucknow: Anti-Terrorist Force (ATS) Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday arrested three suspects related to the contents modules captured by Delhi police on Tuesday.
The man accused (all in the late 20s), came from Prasagraj, Pratapgarh and Rae Bareli, had been handed over to Delhi police.
However, later on Wednesday night, the three were released by police Delhi.
In a combined operation on Tuesday, ATS and special cells of Police Delhi have arrested three people-Moolchand Rae Bareli, Mohammed Amir from Lucknow, and Zeeshan Qamar from Prayagraj.
The police have also restored Ied from their ownership.
Director General of Police Additional Police, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said that even though the basic tip about this module was continued by Delhi police about 10 days ago, the arrests were made on the basis of intelligence collected and developed by ATS.
“It was a heavy duty to track the suspects given the back-to-back VIP visit to the country.
We used our special police operations team (spot) and arrested six people after the scan of the 10-day surveillance input,” he said.
Kumar added that the group planned to carry out the IED series explosion in the state.
“The big congregation in big cities rises during the upcoming festival season is a possible target,” the officer said.
“Because the main case is related to Delhi police, the suspects and restored property have been submitted to them,” he added.
Sources in ATS said the main task of the suspects was to conduct the main target reconnaissance and then carry weapons to the location.
