Kolkata: Congress Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court to the possible procedure for the extension of the two CBI provisions and law enforcement to reach five years.
In the petition, Moitra argues that the central procedure is contrary to the SC assessment itself on this issue.
Moitra Tweeted: “My petition has just submitted the Procedure of the Supreme Court Union who challenges the extension to the Rudar Department of the CBI & Ed contrary to the SC judgment.” TMC has moved to legal resolution Monday in the objection of Rajya Sabha with procedures and says it will cause problems in Lok Sabha.
The source said Moitra argued that SC has stated that the mastery of the Director Ed cannot be extended beyond its retirement except in “rare and extraordinary cases” and only for “short periods”.
He said the “one year at one year” extension could not be interpreted as “short”, given the total provisions of the Director Ed and CBI for two years.
