Written by news2in

Coimbatore: Universitas Bharathiar (BU) has refused to provide details that city-based advocates are sought with the right to information (RTI) acting on the utilization of funds from the endowment on behalf of the former Minister of Main Kamaraj.
Responding to the RTI application on January 4, the Registrar Bu refused to provide details quoting that the application was submitted in advocate capacity.
Quoting on court observations, the registrants said ACT RTI, 2005, could not be used for personal purposes and should not be a tool in the hands of supporters to find information to promote their practice.
M Loganathan, an advocate that sent the RTI application, said he had sent several RTI applications to various government departments and Mrs on several occasions and received the details sought.
This time, he approached Mrs who were seeking details about the Kamarajar Foundation Scholarship that the state government began at the University with Rs 25 Lakh.
Loganathan said he was looking for details about the bank branch where the amount was stored, the number of beneficiaries and the amount of balance in the bank.
“I have sent a similar RTI application to 11 other universities in the state, looking for details of the endowmen.” Speaking to Toi, a senior art official said the number was stored in a bank more than a decade ago and 80% of interest was used to provide scholarships to 60 bright students and their affiliated universities.
