Mom turned out to be blind to RTI plea advocate

Coimbatore: University of Bharathiar (BU) has refused to provide details that city-based advocates are sought with the right to information (RTI) acting on the utilization of funds from the endowment on behalf of the former Minister of Kamaraj.
Answering for the RTI application on January 4, the Registrar Mrs.
refused to provide details quoting that the application was submitted in advocate capacity.
Taking on court observations, the registrants said RTI Law, 2005, could not be used for personal purposes and should not be a tool in the hands of supporters to find information to promote their practice.
Loganathan, the advocate that sent the RTI application, said he had sent Some RTI applications to various government departments and MUs on several occasions and receive the details sought.
This time, he approached Mrs who were seeking details about the Kamarajar Foundation Scholarship that the state government began at the University with 25 lakh.
Loganathan said he was looking for details about the bank branch where the amount was stored, the number of beneficiaries and the amount of balance in the bank.
“I have sent a similar RTI application to 11 other universities in the state, looking for endowmen details.” Talking to Toi, a senior art official said the number was stored in a bank more than a decade ago and 80% of interest was used to provide scholarships to 60 bright students from universities and affiliated colleges.
