Nagpur: The Enforcement Directorate conducted a search in two residence former Minister of Home Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh in Nagpur Regency on Sunday as part of an investigation into the money laundering case, a police officer said.
Two separate teams from Ed looking for Deshmukh’s house in the city of Katol, located about 60 km from here, and her ancestral home in Wadvihira Village near Katol, Katol.
The search starts around 6am, he said.
The official said the search was still at the Deshmukh Katol location, while searching at Wadvihir concluded about 12 noon.
Ed was conducting an investigation into the money laundering case associated with the cum-exortion multi-crore racquet which led to Dishmukh’s resignation from the Minister of Home Affairs post in April this year.
The Central Agency recently arrested Deshmukh Sanjeev Palande’s personal secretary (51) and Kundan Shinde’s personal assistant (45) after that a raid on them and NCP leaders in Mumbai and Nagpur.
Deshmukh previously skipped Ed’s call to be questioned in this case.
ED case against Deshmukh and the others were made after the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) first conducted a preliminary investigation followed by a regular case submitted to the Bombay High Court order.
The court has asked the CBI to see allegations of bribery made against Deshmukh by former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Bir Singh.
Deshmukh, who resigned as Minister of State House in April after the accusation, has denied the mistake.
