Patna: The Muzaffarpur Police Saturday held a Superintending engineer from the rural work department, Anil Kumar, and his driver to be interrogated after recovering from RS 18 lakh cash from the former Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from the former.
Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant said officials from the Department of Income Tax and the Alerting Investigation Bureau had been informed of the recovery of large cash from the Superintending SUV engineer.
The officials said the officials from the Department of Rural Work in Patna have also signaled the seizures and FIR filed against Kumar at the Phakuli Police Station in Muzaffarpur Regency for violations of the Code of Code of Behavior for the next Pancrayat poll.
Additional SP (West) Syed Imran Masood said the white-color SUV was stopped at Phakuli Chowk at Muzaffarpur-Hajipur road during the vehicle checking drive.
During the search, the police in charge of seeing a bag in the Dickey vehicle.
They were surprised to see a collection of currency notes in the bag.
Note is in RS 500 denominations.

Additional SP said Superintending engineers, traveling in the car, could not provide a satisfying answer about the source of money he brought with him.
“He failed to provide evidence, which led to his detention,” he said.
A team of police officers questioned Kumar driver Saroj Kumar Singh for further information raises.
Singh is a resident of Rampur Moriyama Village in Sitamarhi Regency.
Kumar was on his way to Patna from Darbhanga with cash.
Kumar was posted in Darbhanga’s division.
SSP said Kumar, who came from Khagaria Regency, also has a house on Patna.
