Chennai: Two squirrel monkeys stolen from the Vandalur Zoo last week were saved on Sundays from a pet shop owner in Colathur, which was arrested along with the other three.
The police said a contract worker at the zoo, Sathyavel, 34, had masterminded theft on February 7.
He had a friend, Janakiran, 21, to buy a ticket and entered the zoo that day.
They waited until the visitor went and between 19:30 and at 8:30 a.m.
cut the monkey cable cable, where there was no CCTV, and put animals in the backpack with a hole in it for ventilation.
Sathyavel, Janakiran, to avoid the camera and guard, bring a backpack through bamboo with bamboo to the Gajah Park, when the elephant was chained for that night.
He then climbed a tree near the wall of a six-foot compound and jumped to the street vandalur-kambakkam where sathyavel was waiting for a bicycle.
They went to Pet Trader Vinoth and sold monkeys for 4 lakh.
Police Commissioner Tambaram M Ravi presents a team led by deputy commissioner Sibi Chakravarthy to investigate.
The police focused on Sathyavel as the CCTV camera footage at the gate showed her backpack to visitors entering the zoo.
Also checking CCTV footage from the zoo, the police emitted in Satchavel when he was seen giving a bag to a visitor.
Meanwhile, Vinoth has kept monkeys in the basket of fruit in his house and showed his friends, claiming to have got it from a friend abroad.
The police said they could save animals because Vinoth could not offer them for sale immediately because the news of the monkey squirrel missing from the zoo had spread.
Two men’s monkeys have been submitted to the zoo on July 22, 2020, by the Directorate of Income Income, Chennai, who has captured them in the attack.
The Deputy Director of the R Kanchana Zoo said the squirrel monkey was being stored in a cage now and will be rehabilitated in the zoo so the case ends.
S Sathyavel, D janakiran, Vinoth, 29, and one acquaintance, Loganathan, 21, arrested.
