New Delhi: Monsanto officials allegedly under supervision in 2018 when the BJP government in Maharashtra investigated BT cotton seed tissue, the web portal said in his latest revelation in Pegasus Spyware controversy.
The report in ‘The Wire’ said the Maharashtra government had later formed a special investigation unit to investigate companies that allegedly sell or release unproductive (HT) transgenic cotton, or cotton, seeds in the state.
“A few months before the formation of sitting, in October 2017, the office of the Prime Minister (PMO) has also established field inspections and scientific evaluation committees (FISEC), under the Department of Biotechnology, to investigate the proliferation that violates the law of seeds,” said the report.
Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnivis said there was no illegal supervision that occurred when he was in the office.
“In 2018, because the two probes continued, telephone numbers of six officials from Mahyco Monsanto Biotech (India) Pvt.
Lt and Monsanto India were chosen as candidates for supervision, investigations under the Pegasus E project revealed,” according to the web portal.
