Monsoon coming, MCG chief’s nod must for officials to go out of station

Gurgaon: Ahead of the monsoon, the MCG commissioner has directed the civic body officials not to leave headquarters and go out of station without his permission.
In an order issued on Friday, the commissioner said the officials will have to seek prior permission from him before going out of station on leave.
MCG officials said that it has been observed that the senior officials leave the headquarters without prior permission and remain unavailable in emergency situations.
So, in view of the forthcoming rainy season, the commissioner has taken the decision, said MCG officials.
“Keeping in view of the forthcoming rainy season, MCG officials are required to remain at their headquarters and not leave the station without prior permission.
Any officer wishing to leave station in emergency should submit his request by giving justifiable reasons and get prior approval ,” read the order issued by MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja.
“I have issued the order that the officials should not leave without informing me since monsoons are approaching.
If it rains at midnight and the supervising officer concerned is somewhere 40 km away from Gurgaon, how will he/she report in time? The public should not face any inconvenience.
I regularly get feedback that officers often go out of station to their hometowns but they should be available in the emergency situation,” Ahuja told TOI.
“The service rules also say that the employee will have to seek prior permission from the higher authority before going out of station.
The decision has been taken ahead of monsoons so that all officers, especially the supervising officers, are available full-time in the city to monitor the situation during heavy rains,” said a senior MCG official.
