Patna: diseases related to monsoons among children have increased, which causes rushing in all important government hospitals in the state capital.
Both Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) lack of beds in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (Picus) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicus).

Thakur said the pediatric department had around 125 beds.
He acknowledged that most children had problems related to monsoons such as high fever, coughing and pneumonia.
“However, their recovery rate is also higher.
PMCH is currently undergoing renovation and many old buildings are destroyed,” he said.
All the beds are triggered and nicu in NMCH are also full.
Although hospital authorities are busy regulating additional beds in the ward, many people have to move with their patients to other health facilities that have a trigger.

Binod Kumar Singh said monsoon disease increased the number of pediatric patients in the hospital.
“There are 87 children who are treated with 84 beds in Ward pediatric.
All 22 beds in Nicu and 15 in full trigger.
Three beds in public pediatric wards are shared by two children each.
However, there are no Covid cases,” he said .
In fact, another ward is more crowded.
“We accommodate 836 patients with 761 beds by placing extra beds set from other different departments,” Dr.
Singh said.
He, however, stated that there was no shortage of drugs, injections or oxygen and all patients were given the right medical treatment.
About 60% of the beds in the Pediatric department throughout the India Institute of Medical Sciences-Patna (AIIMS-P) are also full while occupancy in the trigger reached around 80%, said the Head of the Pediatric Department, Dr.
Lokesh Tiwari.
“Respiratory problems, neurological problems, gastrointestinal infections, pneumonia and high fever are important diseases suffered by children,” he said.
However, there are no reports like that from IGIM.

Vibha Kumari Singh said after the first consultation in the OPD at the Primary Health Center, children with serious problems are usually rushed to PMCH and NMCH for better care.
