Nagpur: The number of commuters using AAPLI bus services is increasing.
Estimated Previous 40,000 per day Commuter in 200 bus Aapli Plying at 80 routes now has crossed an 80,000 mark with the addition of 90 red buses.
“NMC ticket income also increased by almost Rs 1.5 lakh per day,” confirms senior officials from the Civic body transportation department.
According to data, 290 buses make more than 3,270 trips on various routes.
290 buses collectively cover a distance of almost 56,000 km every day.
NMC generates daily ticket income between Rs 11 Lakh and Rs 12 Lakh by fighting 7 lakh Rs to Rs 9.5 lakh per day until mid-August, the official said.
Before Covid struck, the NMC was used to operate 360 buses with more than 1.5 lakh passengers using the service, the official said, added, daily income floated between Rs 17-Rs 20 Lakh.
Furthermore, the official said the closure of educational institutions because the pandemic had influenced recovery.
However, routes such as Sitabuldi to Khaparkheda and Butibori to Hingna get a good response with the topping depot Khapri.
While income per bus in this depot is around Rs 22 per kilometer, the electric bus dandates the lowest per kilometer in income.
Six electric buses only women have not made a sign.
This bus income per kilometer is only Rs 7.79 km, stating data.
Chairman of the Transport Committee Jitendra Kukde said NMC would soon spread all Aapli buses.
More buses will help NMC curb density on many routes.
