More people believed to have died of diseases related to 9/11 rather than killed on the actual day of Al-Qaeda’s attacks in New York and Washington, according to a report published on Tuesday.
The victim compensation fund September 11 (VCF) has received more than 67,000 claims since it was reopened in 2011.
Nearly 3,900 of these claims were submitted in the name of someone who was suspected of died of a disease related to 9/11, VCF said.
In a report.
“That means that the number of people believed to have died of 9/11 disease related to 9/11 has now exceeded the number of people who died in 9/11,” said Bhattacharyya, “Special Master” which manages funds.
“More people are now believed to have died of 9/11 disease related to those lost on September 11, 2001,” he said.
Nearly 50% of archiving claims in recent years have cancer.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed when the Al-Qaeda hijacker flew a plane to the World Trade Center towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.
Other planes fell into the fields in Pennsylvania.
Compensation funds were created immediately after the attack for the victim’s family.
In 2011, other funds were created for the first respondent and others suffered chronic health conditions arising from the 9/11 attack.
VCF has published compensation of more than $ 8.95 billion to more than 40,000 individuals.
President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit the 9/11 attack site on Saturday to mark a 20-year anniversary.
