Next time you see drones in public at night and think it’s part of the outdoor wedding shooting, you might be wrong.
Maybe it’s a police eye in the sky.
As part of a plan to help the land patrol team, the ‘unit drone’ will have 14 devices including nine with night vision cameras with police personnel trained to operate it.
Twelve drones, from Parrot Anafi Thermal and Dji Phantom Pro Variety, have so far been distributed to Deputy Commissioners and are currently being used in monitoring crowds in shopping areas and public places.
They are operated by trained air photographers for that purpose.
In just one month during locking, Drone helped a police book 3,500 cases of violations.
As many as 3,250 vehicles were confiscated when they flew above the detention zone, beach and shopping centers.
The two-day training program will be held to choose police and video personnel and photos collected will be documented for future use.
Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal said, “We added the loudspeaker facility to this drone so that police personnel monitored they could give instructions to officers in the field.” Initially, they tried to improve the loudspeaker, but the additional burden failed to lift the drone.
“We have asked for help from leading educational institutions to solve this problem,” he said.
Drones will help monitor the movement of people in the midst of bushes and forest areas in North and Western Chennai.
Many wooded places in the interior area, which have never been monitored especially late at night, can now be monitored with the help of infrared cameras.
Drones will also help identify flying kites with illegal yarn.
Additional Commissioner of Police N Kannan, who with his team currently monitors the crowd at Marina and Elliot Beach, said Drone played a major role in upholding the appropriate behavior of Covid.
“Drones can also be used to help collect and send data about traffic congestion in real-time.
With high visibility of UAVs and slim mobility, they can offer direct feedback about congestion, allowing the police to help avoid it,” said RR Sivaram, Managing Director S -Team, a company that coordinates with the police in locking.
