Navi Mumbai: With the number of selected corporators rose 17 percent and the election due next year, the amount of Netas who visited Navi Mumbai and Panvel City City Corporations was also expected to increase.
The area from the existing civil body ward will decrease with the increasing population.
NMMC will have 122 canporators by opposing 111 seats before, while PCMC will have 89 against 78 previous wards as proposed.
Both civil bodies will go to next year’s election.
The NMMC Body Body Tenure ended on May 8, 2020 but the election had been detained because of the covid pandemic.
The election of the PCMC General Agency is due in May 2022.
The process of the census cannot be completed, influences the final number of corporations.
“The number of selected corporators has been completed at 112.
It is more than the last general body.
The number of members coincted remains in five in the Civic body,” said Ambrish Patnigiri, Deputy Commissioner Municipal, NMMC.
“The PCMC house will have 89 selected representatives as proposed,” said Ganesh Deshmukh, Commissioner, PCMC.
According to the 2011 census, NMMC has a population of 11.20 lakh while PCMC has more than 5.10 Lakh residents.
NMMC falls in a population category 6 to 12 lakh city bodies while PCMC is present in category 3 to 6 lakh.
Two civil bodies will move to the next higher category having a 2021 census report is ready.
