More people want to take Jab but we don’t have stock: TN min

Chennai: Some vaccination centers in Chennai and other parts of the state were closed on Monday because there was no stock vaccine, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said.
Even though the country received two additional lakh doses at night, officials said many vaccine centers may not operate on Tuesdays too.
Of the 1.44 doses of crore vaccines received, the state has used 1.41 doses of crore, the Minister said after the inauguration of a special vaccine camp at Madras High Court organized by the TN Bar and Puducherry Board.
“It is an irony of people in Tamil Nadu, including members of the tribal population, ready to take vaccines but we cannot manage Jab because we do not have stock,” he said.
At 8 am on Monday, the country has a stock of 2.07 lakh doses.
In the afternoon, many centers turned people to get out of stock.
Immunization wings in the Public Health Directorate deployed the dosage received at night throughout the state.
At 8pm, vaccination state1.51 Lakh.
Between January and February, the country vaccinated 10,650 people every day.
This rose to around 83,000 in March.
In the next two months, between 94,000 and 99,000 people take vaccines every day.
The average number of vaccinations rose to 1.9 lakh a day in June.
“Last week, we did up to 4.3 lakh vaccination in a day.
We have the capacity to do more, but we don’t have stock,” Subramanian said.
The state is expected to receive 72 lakh doses in July.
“We are now vaccinated focusing on tribal, sportsmen, people with disabilities and in tourist places,” he said.
More vaccination than the dosage received in June: The country is allocated nearly 48 doses of lakh in June but the government vaccine center offers 52.17 doses of lakh.
“The amount of vaccination is higher than the dose received because we use some of the remaining doses of May.
But more importantly, nurses draw 12 doses of vials, not just 10,” said Director with immunization Dr K vinay Kumar.
Each vial vaccine contains five or ten doses but the manufacturer always packs 1ml.
“Our nurses have learned to take advantage of it too.
With this, our waste also goes down,” he said.
Some districts have low coverage: throughout the country, 6.06 crore people over the age of 18 meet the requirements for vaccination and targets are 12.12 crore doses.
Of the 45 health units, Nilgiris has completed 23% of its dose target and 22% Chennai, followed by Virudhunagar (17%) and Coimbatore (16%).
But at least 15 health units have a dose target coverage of less than 9%.
Overall, until Sunday, the state has completed 12% of the target dose.
On average, 4% of the population that fulfills the requirements is fully vaccinated throughout the country.
Even here there is a broad difference in the coverage between districts.
While 11% of the Chennai population was fully vaccinated, 30 health units had less than 3% of the population which was fully vaccinated.
Stalin urged the center to cut Vax allocated for the private sector because the head of the USAGetamil Minister Low MK Stalin had written to the Health Minister Harsh Vardhan urged him to reduce vaccine allocation for the private sector from 25% to 10% because of the low.
In a three-page letter, Stalin said the allocation was 25% high compared to vaccination carried out by this sector.
In Tamil Nadu, 1.43 crore doses have been given, where private hospitals only reach 6.5 lakh doses (4.5%).
In June, from 43.5 doses of lakh given in the state, private institutions only used 4.5 lakh doses (10%), he said.
“The difference between demand and offers in the government and private institutions has resulted in private hospitals that have around 7-8 doses of lakh in stock, the same as doing needs a month for them, while government institutions are abandoned with only two doses of lakh, which is less than usage Singleday them now, “he said.
“It can be repaired by a rationally available dose distribution,” he added.
Stalin suggested that the Union Government increase the price of the procurement of vaccines to ensure that producers are not depressed for reducing quotas to the private sector.
