Ludhiana: The investigation wing of the State Tax Department has carried out anti-avoidance operations in and around Ludhiana for the past few days.
Directed by the State Tax Commissioner Nilatkanth S Avhad, the operation was being carried out together with the police department and was led by the additional commissioner of Sagar Setia.
While the action has ended in several places, it is still ongoing in Transport Nagar, Jalandhar bypass, Rajpura Highway, Jalandhar and Mohali.
Three Jalandhar companies, all into the aluminum business and copper trade, are being sought for alleged tax evasion.
In Mohali, two vehicles loaded with diamond jewelry, gold and silver were intercepted by the team on the airport road on October 27.
The items were transported from Mumbai airport to Chandigarh Airport (Mohali) through two logistics companies.
Taxes and penalties will be ensured after completion of goods verification and documents.
Providing more information about other actions, the Investigation Director H HHOTRA said, “Some inspections occurred by our team in various places in the state, including Ludhiana, Rajpura, Jalandhar and Mohali.
In Ludhiana, based on specific inputs about transportation of goods not Achieved, Godown from the transportation company was examined at Transport Nagar.
In action by our team, several documents were confiscated and three trucks were loaded with goods detained for further verification and finalization of taxes and penalties.
