Pune: More than Crore beneficiaries have not taken the second dose of Covid vaccines in the state, encouraging the Ministry of Health to notify the local administration to convince these people to take earliest time.
Nearly 1.14 Crore residents have delayed their second dose, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health of the State Public.
A total of 97.61 Lakh beneficiaries have not taken the second dose of the covishield even though they become eligible for it, while 17.32 lakh has circled the second shot from Covaxin.
A list of two long doses has been a major concern of the state government in the midst of a case of increasing Covid in Maharashtra.
State immunization officials claim that they have made considerable efforts to create awareness about vaccines and reach homes in each district to get people for the second dose, but the results are not satisfactory.
“We have repeatedly compiled a list of beneficiaries because of the second shot and divided it with the districts concerned.
It’s up to the district to take awareness and follow up with the beneficiaries through their nodal officers,” said a senior official of the State Department of State Department.
Pune, Nashik, Thane, Mumbai and Nagpur have the highest number of recipients who are lost from the second dose of the covishield.
Bulldhana, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal and Nanded have the largest number of people due to the second shot of Covaxin.
Deputy Minister of Chief Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that even though the state had not made it compulsory, the government’s intention was to ensure that all beneficiaries took the covid vaccine dose.
He said someone had to understand that he could not pose a risk for others by not fully vaccinated and state administration would continue to reach such people.
The average receiver of 3-5 lakh is vaccinated in a day in the state in the past 10 days – a major decline of 8-9 lakh daily vaccination last month.
The first dose vaccination coverage in the state above 90%.
This is 66% for the second shot.
The state immunization officer, Dr.
Sachin Desai, said the country has so far utilized 1.5 covid vaccine crore doses.
He also said the country had almost 1 crore pending covishield dosage and 20 lakh doses of covaxin, which should be enough until the end of this month.
