Bhubaneswar: Overall 132496 applicants including 26 people included in the Transgender Community ready for VIE for post 477 SI (sub-inspector) at the Odisha police.
Taking a signal from Tamil Nadu, the Odisha police for the first time invited applications from transgender people for the work of the state police.
“We have received an extraordinary response from prospective SI jobs.
Total 132496 applications are accepted from the date of the start of the online application on June 22 to the last date on July 15.
Applicants include 97506 men, 34964 women and 26 transgender people,” said a senior police officer , Computer-based recruitment checks are likely to be held from 8 to 16 August, said source.
All eyes are in the Odisha police because they will recruit sub-inspectors (SIS) after 27 years.
The Odisha staff election commission (OSSC) has taken over the task of recruiting SIS from the Odisha police in 1994 after alleged corruption and mismanagement by several police recruiters.
The state government recently is a new recruitment council at the Odisha police and gave SIS’s appointment coat back to the state of the state police headquarters after the delay in the exam behavior by OSSC for years.
“Our priority is to ensure timely recruitment from SIS transparently.
For the first time we introduce technology in the appointment process.
Applicants will be asked to write their papers through our computer-based recruitment checks (CBRE).
Viva Voce has been done.
SIS will be selected after Written and physical tests in a professional way, “said Chairman of the RK Sharma Police Recruitment Board.
An IG ranking officer and other SP ranking officer were two members of the Odisha police recruitment council.
It must be noted that the OSSC last recruited only 134 sis in the Odisha police in 2020.
Surprisingly, the post check was conducted in 2015.
Sub-inspector has undergone training at the Academy of the State Police Biju Patnik here.
Official sources say OSSC has not been able to complete the recruitment process in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
There are no advertisements issued to post in 2020 given the covid pandemic and restrictions on new promises by the government, said source.
