Bhubaneswar: Overall 132496 applicants including 26 people included in the Transgender Community ready for VIE for post 477 SI (sub-inspector) at the Odisha police.
Taking a signal from Tamil Nadu, the Odisha police for the first time invited applications from transgender people for the work of the state police.
“We have received an extraordinary response from prospective SI jobs.
Total 132496 applications are accepted from the date of the start of the online application on June 22 to the last date on July 15.
Applicants include 97506 men, 34964 women and 26 transgender people,” said a senior police officer , Computer-based recruitment checks are likely to be held from 8 to 16 August, said source.
All eyes are in the Odisha police because they will recruit sub-inspectors (SIS) after 27 years.
The Odisha staff election commission (OSSC) has taken over the task of recruiting SIS from the Odisha police in 1994 after alleged corruption and mismanagement by several police recruiters.
The state government recently is a new recruitment council at the Odisha police and gave SIS’s appointment coat back to the state of the state police headquarters after the delay in the exam behavior by OSSC for years.
